You're reading: Peskov: Europeans cannot hear Russia’s stance on Ukraine due to wall of censorship

Russia's position on Ukraine is not reaching European citizens because it faces "a concrete wall of censorship," presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“In fact European readers, European television viewers are unable now
to receive information in full. They have been denied the right to the
free choice of information. This can be admitted with great regret,
nevertheless, it is so,” Peskov said in an interview with Russia-25 TV
channel.

He stressed that the Russian authorities – parliament members,
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and President Vladimir Putin –
are demonstrating media activeness “with the purpose of explaining the
Russian stance, dispersing various rumors and accusations.”

“These explanations are not reaching [the listeners]. Not because
they are groundless. On the contrary, the position is very consistent
and substantiated. They are not going through because they face a crude,
concrete wall of censorship. We have not seen such things and honestly
speaking we have not thought that it could be so apparent,” the
presidential press secretary said.
