Petro Poroshenko Bloc Member of Parliament Andriy Antonyschak was hurt after clashes occurred between Polish and Ukrainian football fans on Thursday, the press service of the party reported on Friday.

According to the statement, the incident took place on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv on Thursday night.’Yesterday on Mykhailivska Square, commanders of Maidan sotnias (companies) met in the organization’s office. We were witnesses to fans of the Polish football club Legia (Warsaw) attacking Ukrainian law enforcers. (They) tried to beat them, take their helmets off and screamed anti-Ukrainian slogans… I couldn’t stand aside and came up to the place of clashes to calm the hooligans down, as I know Polish,’ the party’s press service quoted Antonyschak as saying.

According to Antonyschak, the Polish fans then threw a flash grenade at him, which injured him.

Antonyschak was subsequently taken to receive medical treatment and his condition is satisfactory.
