Kyiv-based Phoenix Capital investment company resumed normal work on Wednesday after searches were conducted in its office on the previous day, the company said in a press release.

The company also denies accusations brought by the State Tax Service (STS) of tax evasion to the tune of more than UAH 4 million. The company says that the searches were conducted in violation of applicable laws and without legal justification.

“Statements on tax understatement are absolutely groundless: there were no additional charges of tax liabilities, there was no tax notification re Phoenix Capital LLC, and the managers of Phoenix Capital LLC were not notified of the action in the proper manner, which might have been done intentionally in order to strip the company of the possibility to appeal against the illegal actions by the authorities,” the company said in a statement.
