You're reading: Pinchuk’s Interpipe denies any sales to Iran in violation of international sanctions

Editor's Note: The following statement was issued by Victor Pinchuk on April 21 denying that his Interpipe company violated an international trade ban in place against Iran, an allegation contained in a Newsweek story published on April 18 and part of a new book called "Clinton Cash" by author Peter Schweizer.

Repudiation of information published by Newsweek

on alleged violation by Interpipe of the U.S. economic sanctions against Iran

“Newsweek has published inaccurate and potentially libelous information on alleged violations by Interpipe of the U.S. economic sanctions against Iran. Newsweek has not verified the information with Interpipe or Victor Pinchuk’s press office before publishing the story. On Saturday, April 18, 2015 Newsweek published the story “Hillary Clinton’s Big Benefactor Has Trade Links with Iran” by Rory Ross, which alleged that Interpipe may have violated the sanctions regime against Iran.

The author alleged that “Newsweek has seen declarations and documents from Ukraine that show a series of shipments from Interpipe to Iran in 2011 and 2012, including railway parts and products commonly used in the oil and gas sectors.(…) Interpipe may qualify for penalties.”

Since the information and documents used by Newsweek was not verified with Interpipe, Interpipe is not aware about its source and why Newsweek presumed that the information was reliable. Interpipe has not violated the sanctions regime on Iran but on the contrary, complied with the sanctions to the letter. Any allegation to the contrary is completely wrong. The alleged “evidence” of alleged “violations,” is either falsified, or the authors have been misled in the interpretation. Interpipe will use all available legal means to protect its reputation.
