The director of the Hermitage Museum, Mikhail Piotrovsky, is concerned about the fate of the Scythian gold exhibition, which got lost on the way from Europe to its home - the Museum of Kerch in Crimea.

“The latest Crimea-related problem is the exhibition of Scythian gold
from Kerch. It left Europe to return to Ukraine but we still don’t know
where it is,” Piotrovsky told reporters on Tuesday.

The Hermitage has no information where these exhibits will be stored: in Ukraine or in Crimea, he said.

The Hermitage maintains close relations with museums in Kerch and regularly organizes archeological expeditions to Crimea.

The Ukrainian authorities might have moved the Scythian gold to the
West as a pledge for loans, according to unconfirmed reports.
