Poland has confirmed the introduction of a simplified procedure for issuing Schengen visas to Ukrainians with tickets for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

A seminar on consular cooperation during major sport events, in particular Euro 2012, was held in Warsaw on October 3-4, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov said at a briefing on Tuesday.

"They discussed the possibilities for providing a fast and effective response to any problems related to the stay of organized groups and individual visitors to the championship in Ukraine and Poland. Poland has confirmed the introduction of a simplified procedure for issuing Schengen visas to Ukrainian citizens for the time of Euro 2012 on the basis of their having tickets for football matches," he said.

According to Dykysarov, the parties agreed to conduct an information campaign in Ukraine encouraging holders of the tickets for Euro 2012 to apply to Poland’s consular agencies starting from March 2012.
