You're reading: Poland to issue $1 million to Ukraine to help internally displaced persons

Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Konrad Pawlik has said he intends to sign a contract with a European agency, according to which Poland will issue $1 million to Ukraine to help internally displaced persons (IDPs), the press service of Mariupol City Council has reported.

“Thus families from this category will be able to receive up to $5,000,” reads the report.

The ways which the EU can help IDPs in Ukraine was the main theme of a meeting a delegation of Polish diplomats led by Pawlik, Deputy Head of Donetsk regional military-civilian administration Viktor Remsky, Mariupol Mayor Yuriy Khotlubei and head of the Donetsk regional police department Viacheslav Abroskin attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting Remsky told those present that during a recent meeting of Head of Donetsk regional military-civilian administration Pavlo Zhebrivsky with Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski the region head announced the idea of providing aid to the Ukrainian cities affected by the military conflict in Donbas.

“Within this project, EU countries will focus on certain cities which they will assist in the reconstruction of infrastructure, and in gratitude, most of the streets in these cities will be named after the cities of the country which was engaged in restoration,” the press service said.
