Investigators are working on three major lines of inquiry into the murder of Yuriy Fomin, the director of the state-run Feofania hotel complex enterprise of the National Academy of Sciences, which is located on the territory of Feofania hospital, Chief of the Interior Ministry's Main Investigation Department Vasyl Farynnyk has said.

“We are working on three major lines of inquiry: a contract killing connected with his professional activities, a contract killing connected with his business activities, and a contract killing for revenge,” Farynnyk told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

He also said that because of this murder they resumed the previously suspended investigation into the murder of an executive secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Valeriy Arseniuk, who was shot dead near his flat in Kyiv center in the spring of 2008.

As reported, Arseniuk was shot in the head on Antonovycha Street in Kyiv in May 2008. Among the motives for his murder investigators looked into his attempts to prevent the misappropriation of land belonging to the academy

Fomin was killed by a gunshot in Kyiv on February 1 this year.

The investigation department of Podolsky District Branch of Kyiv police launched criminal proceedings into this case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code (premeditated murder).
