An explosion at the Intercession Church in Zaporizhia on Wednesday could have been an act of terrorism, police have said.

"Of course, we are considering all possibilities, starting with domestic reasons, and [up to] the possibility that this was an act of terrorism aimed at intimidating churchgoers of the Intercession Church," Press Secretary of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine Dmytro Andreev told journalists.

He added that an improvised explosive device had been detonated in the church. The explosion injured nine people, and one woman later died of her injuries in hospital.
