You're reading: Polish president worried about the situation after Ukrainian parliamentary elections

Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski has expressed concern over the slow progress and violations during the vote count in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, the Polish Radio External Service reported with reference to the Polish Press Agency.

According to the Polish president’s aide, Jaromir Sokolowski,
Komorowski phoned Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Sunday night
to express his concern over the delay in announcement of the results of
the Ukrainian parliamentary elections, as well as the numerous reports
of serious violations during the vote count in single-member
constituencies.

“Recent events in Ukraine have a negative impact on the assessment of
the elections as a whole, and can slow down Ukraine’s rapprochement
with the European Union, including the signing and ratification of the
Association Agreement,” Sokolowski quoted Komorowski as saying.
