Ukrainians still prefer traditional (printed) publications to Internet ones, but if electronic publications were an absolute analogue to printed issues, they would be more popular, according to a poll.
According to the results of the survey conducted by Kyiv International Sociology Institute and the Independent Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters, 57% of the respondents currently once a week or more read Internet publications, while 65% of Ukrainians read printed issues.
With regard to television, radio and their Internet versions, then some 39% of those polled said they watch TV program online more often than once a week, while 85% of the respondents said they prefer standard TV; some 25% of the Ukrainians listen to the Internet radio more often than once a week, compared to 59% who prefer regular radio.
At the same time, if traditional media had identical electronic versions with the same programs, then 56% of the respondents said they would prefer the Internet versions, while 24% said they would prefer traditional publications; some 37% against 32% would like to listen to the Internet radio.
With regard to TV, equal amount of respondents (38%) would prefer to watch TV programs online and on the television.
The research was conducted on May 2-10 and involved 629 respondents from the InPoll online panel.
Those polled corresponded to Ukraine’s Internet audience in terms of gender, age and the type of the populated area.
