Kyiv spent Hr 18 billion (which is around $2.25 billion) on its preparations for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said.

"We invested UAH 10 billion in preparations for the championship, and businesses spent UAH 8 billion on the development of hotels. Thus, UAH 18 billion was spent on Euro 2012 over two years. This is a huge investment," Popov said at a meeting of Kyiv City State Administration on Thursday.

According to him, today the municipal authorities are looking for an opportunity to attract investors that were involved in preparations for the championship for the further development of the city when Euro 2012 is over.
