You're reading: Poroshenko appoints Moskal as Luhansk regional governor

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree appointing Hennadiy Moskal head of Luhansk Regional State Administration.

The decree, dated Sep. 18, has been posted on the Web site of the head of state.

As reported, on Sep. 15, Poroshenko dismissed Iryna Verihina as acting chief of Luhansk Regional State Administration.

Moskal had been the head of the Verkhovna Rada ad hoc commission investigating mass executions in Kyiv in February 2014.

He told reporters on Wednesday the government had approved him as a candidate for the head of the Luhansk Region State Administration.
