You're reading: Poroshenko approves Security and Defense Council’s decision on financing of security and defense sectors

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko by decree has upheld a decision of the National Security and Defense Council, as of Dec. 20, on the supply of security and defense sectors.

In particular, the NSDC decision foresees raising funds for the Armed Forces to carry out mobilization and for regular term conscription.

The Cabinet of Ministers was charged to assume control of funds for national security and defense in the amount of Hr 80.17 billion, part of the national budget 2015, as well as state guarantees worth Hr 6 million for “armament purchase, military equipment, material and technical means.”

According to the National Security and Defense Council’s decision, Hr 60.3 million will be allocated for the national security and defense sector’s information and analytical activities.

Moreover, the government will adopt measures in 2014 to subordinate the State Special Transport Service of the General Headquarters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and include it as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2015.

The Cabinet of Ministers also ordered that a bill be tabled in parliament within two days on amending the law on state defense orders, for material property, fuels, lubricants and other products for military use, bought for the Ukrainian security and defense sector as necessary defense products.

Furthermore, it was decided to re-subordinate units responsible for the transport of individuals under arrest and convicts who are in custody or to court hearings to the authority of the Justice Ministry.
