Poroshenko asking US Congress to grant Ukraine special status of non-NATO ally

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has asked the U.S. Congress to grant Ukraine the special status of non-NATO ally.

“I urge the United States to provide Ukraine with a special status, which would reflect the level of interaction with the country, [even though it] is not a member of NATO,” he said in a speech before the U.S. Congress on Thursday.
