You're reading: Poroshenko, Barroso to meet next week in New York

Brussels - European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso will visit New York next week to attend the UN General Assembly and hold a number of bilateral meetings. 

On Sept. 22 the EC president will be in New York to attend the 69th UN General Assembly, spokesperson for the European Commission Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen said at a briefing in Brussels on Sept. 19.

During the visit to New York, Barroso plans to hold a series of bilateral meetings, including with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, new president of the UN General Assembly Sam Kutesa and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

The press secretary of the European Commission did not specify what issues Barroso and Poroshenko were going to discuss.
