Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevicius and the parties discussed the implementation of the European integration reforms in Ukraine, particularly in the context of visa regime liberalization and anti-corruption activities.

The press service of the head of state reported on Friday that Poroshenko thanked Lithuania for its support in the establishment of the visa-free regime by the EU.

“Notwithstanding the war, I think your path is right yet difficult. You will always have our support both at bilateral and international level,” Butkevicius said.

Significant attention was paid to the enhancement of trade-economic, investment, scientific-technical interstate cooperation and interaction in the sphere of security and defense.

The Ukrainian president noted the efficiency of cooperation in military-technical sphere, particularly in the creation of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade, joint training and assistance of Lithuania in the maintenance of the Ukrainian servicemen.

The parties agreed on future joint steps aimed to confront Russian propaganda and provide the unbiased coverage of the situation in Ukraine.

“In this context, Petro Poroshenko thanked the Lithuanian Government for its practical contribution to the initiative of several EU countries and Ukraine on the establishment of pan-European Russian-speaking channel as a source of objective information,” reads the report.
