Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said it is necessary to develop a program of partnership with Canada in the energy sector, the presidential press service has reported.

Poroshenko said in an interview with the CBC television channel that there were great prospects for partnership with Canada in the energy sector due to the fact that this country has the world’s third largest potential for proven reserves of oil and gas.

‘We need a strategic program in the energy sector,’ he said.

In particular, he noted the prospects for cooperation in the construction of LNG terminals, the development of shale gas extraction, and nuclear power.

‘We can have synergies from combining our capabilities,’ Poroshenko said.
