You're reading: Poroshenko calls for review of global security systems

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the world should review its security systems, reads a statement posted on the official Web site of the head of state.

Poroshenko said this in an interview with the CBC television channel during his working visit to Canada.

“Most of all, Ukraine now needs the unity of the entire world in resolving the question of its security. Petro Poroshenko noted that post-war security mechanisms are not working. The world should review its security systems, and Canada’s position is very important here,” reads the statement.

When asked about a new “cold war,” Poroshenko noted that Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada had ratified the Association Agreement with the EU.

“Ukraine has crossed the Rubicon and ruined any hopes to restore the Soviet Union. We are a European nation,” the presidential press service quoted Poroshenko as saying.
