Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, during his visit to Singapore, has discussed with the leadership of the country cooperation in the trade and military spheres, as well as cooperation in the fight against corruption.

“Peace and reforms are what we have on the agenda today… The dream of
Ukrainians is for Ukraine to become better – free, European, fair and
successful,” the presidential press service quoted him as saying in his speech
on Dec. 9 as part of the Fullerton Lectures program organized by the
International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Poroshenko spoke about the recent events in Ukraine, in particular, the
situation in Donbas, and outlined the vectors of the country’s development.

He also thanked Singapore and other countries for support.

“It is important for us to have not only the support of our partners in the
European Union and the United States, but also the support of Japan and
Southeast Asia,” Poroshenko said.

While commenting on his visit to Singapore, he said that during his meetings
the sides had discussed the possibility of intensifying talks on the signing of
an agreement on free trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Singapore,
as well as on the liberalization of the visa regime.

Poroshenko said that the sides had also discussed military-technical
cooperation between industrial enterprises and the exchange of experience
between the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Corrupt Practices
Investigation Bureau of Singapore.

“We agreed that Ukrainian experts will get full access to the experience
gained by Singapore,” he said.
