You're reading: Poroshenko: EU to allocate euro 1 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that agreement was reached at meetings with EU leaders in Brussels on Saturday, Aug.30 on the allocation of euro one billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.

“We also agreed that a third wave of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the form of a euro 1 billion loan would be adopted. Ukraine will additionally receive by the end of the year euro 510 million as a loan and euro 250 million as a non-repayable grant, through which the EU supports Ukraine in this difficult situation,” he said at a press conference in Brussels on Aug. 30.

Poroshenko said that the meeting participants had also discussed the provision of humanitarian assistance for the preparation of the eastern regions of Ukraine for the winter, in particular, the supply of food, means of protection and other necessities for the Donbas, in cooperation with the Ukrainian government.
