You're reading: Poroshenko informs Yanukovych about priorities in Economy Ministry’s work

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and newly appointed Minister of Economic Development and Trade Petro Poroshenko have discussed priorities in the activity of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the presidential press service reported on Friday, March 23.

"One of the priorities in the activity of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade is to ensure the further growth of the national economy, in particular, the level of GDP. It is key to the successful implementation of the social programs announced by the head of state," Poroshenko said after meeting with Yanukovych.

"I made this decision, and I accepted the president’s proposal. A fundamental criterion for me is the desire to seriously promote the situation, do what the public and business need and take innovative steps to improve the business environment," he added.

Poroshenko said that it would be impossible to implement social initiatives without urgent economic development.

He also stressed the importance for the ministry of conducting a transparent information policy concerning the provision of citizens and the media with full statistics about the country’s development.

"The public and business should now serious steps taken by the government to further improve the conditions for doing business in Ukraine," Poroshenko said.
