Ukrainian President-Elect and MP Petro Poroshenko and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland discussed boosting the work of an international commission of inquiry into the use of force against protesters on Kyiv's Independence Square, or the Maidan, from November 2013 through February 2014 and in Odesa on May 2, 2014

The sides discussed the involvement of the Venice Commission in the
process of introducing amendments to the Ukrainian Constitution, which
includes, among other things, decentralization of power and changes in
the electoral law, Poroshenko’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

The new Constitution of Ukraine should provide a system of power with anti-corruption mechanisms, Poroshenko said.

The press service also informed that when meeting with German
Chancellor Angela Merkel on May 7, 2014, Poroshenko asked for German
experts’ assistance in conducting toxicological examination as part of
the investigation of the incidents in Odesa on May 2.

Poroshenko stresses that all those responsible for the tragedy on the Maidan, and in Odesa must be brought to justice.

Poroshenko also invited Jagland to attend his inauguration.

According to earlier reports, the inauguration is scheduled for Saturday, June 7.
