Kyiv expects the international community to support Ukraine in settling the problem of Crimea, Ukrainian President-Elect Petro Poroshenko has said.

“We thank you for supporting Ukraine in solving our Crimea problem.
The whole world demonstrated solidarity with Ukraine in not accepting
the aggression in Crimea, in not accepting the fake referendum, and not
accepting the annexation of a part of Ukrainian territory. We will
continually demand the restoration of law and order, and the withdrawal
of foreign troops from the Crimean territory,” Poroshenko said following
a meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Poroshenko said his negotiations with Obama were productive and
efficient. “I think that it is very important that the United States
supports the European aspirations of the Ukrainian people,” he said.

He thanked the U.S. leader for supporting Ukrainians in their
aspirations for freedom and democracy on the way of building an
independent and sovereign European state.

“For half a year the Ukrainian people, millions of Ukrainian people,
were on the streets, fighting for the signing of the Association
Agreement and for a European future for my country. And I think that the
modernization of the country, ensuring the reform of a great and a good
investment climate, building up an independent court system, ensuring
energy efficiency and energy diversification, will help the Ukrainian
people to receive the prospect of membership of the European Union in
the very near future, after a successful program for modernization, with
the strong assistance of the United States of America,” he said.

Ukraine values support of its initiative on reforming the energy sector, the new Ukrainian president said.

“I’m very satisfied about our future in the anti-corruption field – I
think this is a crucially important point for the modernization of the
country,” he said.
