Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said he is ready to immediately call a meeting of the trilateral contact group, the foreign ministers and the leaders of the countries in the "Normandy format" to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

“We reiterate that we are ready to immediately call the three-party contact group, hold a meeting of the foreign minister in the ‘Normandy format’ and we are ready for a summit in the ‘Normandy format’ in Astana or any other place to ensure the signing of a schedule for implementing the Minsk agreements,” he said at a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz in Kyiv on Jan. 19.

Poroshenko reiterated that he favors a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas, which should be based on the Minsk agreements. “This situation primarily hurts civilians,” he said.
