Ukraine's government is preparing international suits for the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic and Donetsk People's Republic to be declared terrorist organizations, President Petro Poroshenko said on Saturday, July 19.

“I’m sure that the terrorists must absolutely be put on trial,”
Poroshenko said at a meeting with Dutch Foreign Minister Frans
Timmermans.

Timmermans said his priority was “to bring our people back home” as
“the families want to bury” those killed in Thursday’s crash of a
Malaysian airliner. “We are shocked at the news that the bodies may be
moved from place to place,” he said. People “are angry with what they
hear.”

“As soon as we’ve obtained evidence, we won’t stop before those
guilty are on trial,” Timmermans said. “I mean not only those who pulled
the trigger but also those who had made that possible. I believe that
the international community must unify for this purpose.”

The jet crash “opened Europe’s eyes to what is happening in Ukraine,”
the minister said. “The Netherlands will now press the EU for more
resolute action.”
