Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will sign a decree on dissolving the Verkhovna Rada and calling early parliamentary elections next week, presidential freelance adviser Oleh Medvedev said.

“I think it is 95 percent likely that there will be a presidential decree next week on dissolving the Verkhovna Rada and calling early parliamentary elections, as the 30-day timeframe for forming a new coalition will expire within the next few days,” Medvedev said on Radio Liberty Russian service.

“Nobody is trying” to form a new coalition and is not planning to try, and therefore the president will be entitled to dissolve the parliament, he said.

The government will present a package of major political, economic and social reforms in Sept., Medvedev said. The Rada is also expected in Sept. to ratify Ukraine’s association agreement with the European Union, which was signed in June, he said.

It was reported earlier that Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov had officially announced on July 24 that the European Choice coalition had ceased to exist. The coalition’s dissolution and non-formation of a new one within 30 days entitles the president to dissolve the Rada and call early elections.
