Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel during a telephone conversation exchanged views on international efforts to de-escalate the situation in the Donbas, the press service of the head of state has reported.

According to the report, Poroshenko said that he plans “to do everything possible to implement the peace plan.”

“In particular, for this purpose the Ukrainian side is ready to work as part of the trilateral contact group in the next few days,” he said.

The sides also agreed to coordinate their efforts ahead of a European Council meeting on Aug. 30 for further decisive action on the part of the EU.
