MILAN - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel as part of his working visit to Milan (Italy).

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the meeting started at about 7 p.m. Kyiv time on Oct. 16.

As reported, Poroshenko is on a working visit to Milan on October 16-17. On October 16, he is to hold bilateral meetings with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

On Oct. 17, Poroshenko is scheduled to have a multilateral meeting with Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, Renzi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Van Rompuy and Barroso.

In addition, Poroshenko will hold bilateral meetings with Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Upon arrival in Milan, the president has already met with representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora.
