Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that reforming the civil service system is a priority.

“We do not need so many civil servants, they have nothing to do,” he said at a meeting with representatives of social reform movements in Kyiv on Wednesday, July 9.

In addition, he mentioned the importance of introducing e-government and modern technology such as 3G, 4G.

“I cannot understand why Ukraine is almost the last country in the world in which there is no 4G. The answer is simple – corruption,” Poroshenko said.

In this context, he said, it is important to conduct anti-corruption reform in close cooperation with civil society organizations.

“Anti-corruption reform should not be conducted through absolutely meaningless lustration laws that in fact cement corruption,” Poroshenko said.

He also called on civil society organizations to cooperate closely on the road to carrying out important reforms in Ukraine.
