You're reading: Poroshenko party wants govt to be formed pursuant to coalition accord

Presidential aide and parliamentary candidate Mykola Tomenko of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc commented on the coalition agreement, signed by the five political forces in the new parliament on Nov. 21.

“The minimum program has been fulfilled, while the 70-page coalition agreement is a sufficiently important precondition for the future coalition’s effectiveness,” Tomenko said in a commentary, posted on the party’s website.

Tomenko made special mention of what he called correct formation of the government in accordance with the plan, laid down in the coalition agreement.

“I would recommend that the colleagues in the People’s Front again pay attention to the constitution, which says that Ukraine is a parliamentary-presidential republic, not a republic ruled by a prime minister,” Tomenko said.

“This means that all five political forces that have signed the coalition agreement, not the prime minister alone, endorse all decisions and form a government,” he said.

“Only this way can a professional and responsible government, not an Arseniy Yatseniuk cabinet, be formed,” Tomenko said.
