BRUSSELS - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Ukraine became a victim of military aggression from the foreign state and hopes for unity of the Council of the European Union when estimating this situation.

“Despite the efforts of the international society to establish peace in Ukraine, now Ukraine is a subject of the foreign military aggression on our territory. Today our situation worsened since August 27. Thousands of foreign troops and hundreds of foreign tanks are now on Ukrainian territory. This is very high risk not just for peace and stability in Ukraine, but for Europe as such,” he said at a briefing after the meeting with European Commission President Jose Manual Barroso in Brussels on Aug. 30.

Poroshenko said he pins his hopes on the Council of the European Union which “will be the one in estimation and response to the violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and its borders.”
