You're reading: Poroshenko presents national awards, documents for armored ambulance to 79th separate airmobile brigade

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has highly praised the contribution of paratroopers of the 79th separate air mobile brigade of the Land Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the liberation of territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions from terrorists.

“You were mainly responsible for the liberation of Ukrainian cities. Paratroopers always fulfill the most important and difficult tasks,” the head of the state said during the personal meeting with them in Mykolaiv.

He expressed gratitude to the servicemen for their courage and heroism.

Poroshenko noted that he and all Ukrainians would always remember the heroism of those who sacrificed their lives for the state.

The president said that the people of Ukraine needed unity and support to achieve victory and peace.

“We must be united as never before. There is power in unity. Nobody but us! – I endorse every word of this motto of airmobile troops,” Poroshenko said.

The head of the state granted decorations to militaries and presented the papers for an apartment to the family of a fallen soldier. The president also handed over documents for an armored ambulance created on the basis of the BTR-70. The vehicle was produced by Mykolaiv armor plant of the state corporate group Ukroboronprom.

“I am confident that it will save many lives,” the president said.

Poroshenko expressed gratefulness to volunteers and personally to Yuriy Biriukov for the efforts aimed at the support of the Ukrainian military, and the enhancement of the protection and combat capability of soldiers.

Commander of the 79th separate airmobile brigade colonel Oleksiy Shandar presented the brigade’s flag and a striped vest, part of a Ukrainian army uniform, to the president.
