You're reading: Poroshenko promises serious reforms immediately after local elections

IVANO-FRANKIVSK - Ukraine will begin serious reforms in different areas immediately after the local elections, President Petro Poroshenko has said.

“I have never talked about this and did not want to speak before the election, but I will tell you that immediately after the elections we will have four years without elections, without populism, when finally we will be able to demonstrate decisive steps for the development of our country,” the president said when visiting Ivano-Frankivsk Cement Plant on Oct. 22.

Poroshenko said that he was talking about decisive steps to combat corruption, reform the judiciary, prosecutor’s office and reforms in a number of other areas.

The president also stressed that serious work on the restoration of the economy and investment would start immediately after the fair and transparent local elections.
