Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that a record number of Russian troops have been stationed along the Ukrainian-Russian border.

“We have information that a record numbers of Russian army personnel are stationed near the Ukrainian border. Moreover, we have this information not only from our own intelligence sources, it was confirmed by NATO, the U.S. and the EU,” he said in an interview with 1+1 TV channel on July 13.

Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had considerably increased its combat readiness, its soldiers have undergone additional training, and they also have good morale.

“Today we have over 64,000 soldiers in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. We also have the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine, and border guards. We have much more equipment there,” Poroshenko said.

He added these forces are capable of repelling any attack and of protecting Ukraine.
