Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has announced that starting from June 20 until June 27, anti-terrorist units will cease battle actions so that members of illegal armed units should be able to disarm.

“The anti-terrorist operation forces will cease hostilities staring today until June 27, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said when talking with residents of Sviatohirsk, Donetsk region. According to him, this is being done so that the terrorists can lay down their arms, but those who do not do this will be destroyed,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

Battle actions will be only of response character – if Ukrainian law enforcers are attacked, Poroshenko said.

Restoration of houses damaged during clashes will begin soon and all works will be carried out at the expanse of the state, the president said.

Poroshenko went to the headquarters of the National Guard’s counter-terrorism center in eastern Ukraine on Friday evening.
