Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has said that the elections due to be held in the parts of Donbas that are not controlled by Kyiv could destroy the peace agreements reached in Minsk.

“The head of state noted that Ukraine has consistently honored the obligations it assumed in Minsk. The president stressed that the fake elections militants are planning to hold in the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts on Oct. 18 and Nov. 1 could totally destroy the Minsk agreements,” the president’s press office said, citing the head of state’s speech at a Tuesday meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
