President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has drawn the attention of European parliamentarians to the danger of the peace process in Ukraine being destroyed.
“Fake elections in the occupied territories of Donbas will destroy the peace process,” Poroshenko said at a meeting with MEPs – members of the committees for international trade and legal affairs, in Kyiv on Sept. 24.
He welcomed a European Parliament decision to send a mission to observe the upcoming local elections in Ukraine on Oct. 25, 2015, and confirmed the resolute determination of the Ukrainian authorities to ensure a free and fair election process in accordance with OSCE/ODIHR standards.
Poroshenko thanked the MEPs for their decision to back Ukraine over the illegal annexation of Crimea and Russia aggression in Donbas, as well as for their support for Nadia Savchenko, Oleh Sentsov, and illegally jailed Ukrainians.
