Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has instructed the new leadership of the Defense Ministry to eliminate within a week all the bureaucratic hurdles that hinder the Armed Forces of Ukraine to carry out its tasks.

“Within a week, you should eliminate all the bureaucratic obstacles that put the Armed Forces on the back burner,” he said in Kyiv on Wednesday when presenting the new defense minister.

Poroshenko expressed his outraged that the matter of providing Ukrainian soldiers with thermal underwear had not been settled for seven months.

“To buy rubber boots you need a government decree. Warm sleeping bags, army boots, knee pads, none of these has been provided, and soldiers were forced to rely solely on the help of volunteers. This shameful practice should be discontinued within a week, the first steps have already been done at my request,” the president said.

Poroshenko said that the need for government instructions was canceled a week ago and he did not understand what the Defense Ministry was waiting for.
