Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the draft amendments to the constitution related to decentralization clearly state that a specific procedure of local self-government is possible in individual administrative-territorial units of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

“Draft amendments to the Constitution don’t imply any special status of Donbas. All these ideas come from the wicked. The draft permits the possibility of a specific procedure of exercising local self-government in individual administrative-territorial units of Donetsk and Luhansk region that will be defined by a separate law. That is precisely how it is regulated today,” he said in Kyiv on Wednesday at the presentation of draft amendments to the Ukrainian constitution relating to decentralization.

Poroshenko stressed that this norm of the transitional provisions clearly complies with the Minsk agreements and was not imposed from the outside and dismissed any talk about imposition as insinuations.
