President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has reported that work is ongoing to organize the activities of the joint entrance checkpoints on the border with the EU member states: Poland, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia.

“We in the short term will do our best on each border part to have joint entrance points,” he said in an interview with Ukraine TV channel on July 3 evening.

Poroshenko said that he has already held consultations on this issue with the leaders of the involved countries and profile committees have received instructions.

“The EU is ready to grant us an opportunity for our border guards and customs officers to work on their territory, including the use of scanners and technical means,” Poroshenko said, adding that the open check points will operate under the ‘single window’ principle.
