Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law which introduces the procedure of approving goods transported into the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone in eastern Ukraine.

“The next very important law aimed at fighting counterfeit [goods] in the ATO zone is the law of Ukraine on amending some laws of Ukraine on the procedure of transporting goods into the ATO zone,” Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Andriy Taranov said at a briefing on Wednesday.

He said that the law establishes that transportation of goods into the ATO zone must be conducted in line with the procedure established by the Cabinet of Ministers under the auspices of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

“Meaning that the SBU has the Anti-Terrorist Operation center in it, establishes goods and other things that can be transported to the ATO zone, and gives [those] to the Cabinet to be approved. The Cabinet makes a decision on the goods that can be transported or not,” Taranov said.

He added that goods which are not approved by the government will be confiscated.
