You're reading: Poroshenko signs the law that will free the religious organizations from tax payments

Poroshenko has signed the law No. 420-VIII, amending Article 266 of the Tax Code of Ukraine regarding the exemption of property of religious organizations from tax payments, the president's press service reported.

New law says the property of religious organizations used for social shelters, boarding schools, orphanages, hospitals and other charity activities, are exempt from taxation.

The document recommends the local self-government agencies in 2015 to review the decision on imposing property tax for property of religious organizations within one month. The Ukrainian parliament passed the law on May 14.
