Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a phone talk with the founder of Open Society Foundations George Soros and discussed the situation in Ukraine, in particular, in Donbas.

The press service of the head of state has reported that Poroshenko said that the crossing of the Ukraine border by the Russian humanitarian convoy towards Luhansk, despite the agreements on the registration of the humanitarian aid under Ukrainian customs and border procedures and without the accord and escorting of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), is flagrant violation of international requirements.

Poroshenko thanked Soros for the support of Ukraine and its democratic development. He highly appreciated the work of the International Renaissance Foundation in Ukraine, which launched consultative grounds for state power agencies aiming at promoting reforms in the country.

Poroshenko and Soros discussed the introduction of an international financial mechanism for increasing Ukraine’s investment attractiveness and stirring up the economic activities, the press service said.
