You're reading: Poroshenko suggests that U.S. congressmen send monitors to Ukrainian elections

During a recent meeting with a delegation from the U.S. Congress, Petro Poroshenko, co-chairman of the Ukraine-EU committee on parliamentary cooperation, suggested that U.S. monitors be sent to monitor the upcoming elections in Ukraine.

“On May 25, voting day, Ukraine will be able to decide on its future
as a free country,” Poroshenko was quoted as saying by his press service
after meeting with the U.S. Congress delegation in Ukraine.

Poroshenko also said Ukraine now needs economic assistance from the
U.S., Europe, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He also said
Ukraine needs to diversify its power supply sources.
