Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is to visit Canada and the United States on Sep. 16-18, said Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis.

On Sep. 16-17, Poroshenko will be in Canada. During this visit he is due to hold talks with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, meet with Canadian Governor General David Johnston and speak at a joint session of Canada’s House of Commons and Senate and meet with representatives of the Ukrainian community.

On Sep. 17-18, the Ukrainian president will be paying a visit to the U.S.

During the visit, he is due to hold talks with U.S. President Barack Obama, meet with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

Poroshenko is also due to speak at a joint session of both houses of the U.S. Congress.

“These visits by the Ukrainian president to the U.S. and Canada will help strengthen support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, broaden technical and other assistance for Ukraine, in particular, in stabilizing the situation in the Donbas region,” Perebyinis said.
