Ukraine and Slovakia have agreed on joint control on the border, the press service of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko reported on Sunday, Nov. 16.

“Ukraine and Slovakia agreed on joint control of the border to fight corruption,” Ukrainian presidential press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko wrote on his Twitter page after negotiations held between the presidents of the two countries on Nov. 16.

Poroshenko later said that the sides had agreed on joint border control and the development of joint checkpoints.

“This will be one of the most effective steps to tackle corruption at customs,” he said.
