President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has welcomed the fact Ukrainians supported pro-European, pro-Ukrainian forces in the recent local elections, but noted the parties and the parliamentary coalition should consolidate and carry out reforms.

‘There has not been a revenge of anti-Ukrainian forces. And this is all thanks to your wisdom, dear Ukrainians! The political forces that are part of the ruling coalition got a good result. The total support for pro-European, pro-Ukrainian forces far exceeded the support for the party that descended from Yanukovych’s Party of Regions and is its legal successor,’ Poroshenko said while commenting on the local elections.

The head of state expects that the pro-Ukrainian majority capable of making effective decisions to solve the problems of local communities will be formed in the councils of all levels in a very short time.

‘Emotions in the coalition, for which the competition of its members in the local elections became a test of strength, will calm down quickly. Today I urge everybody to bury the hatchet and smoke the pipe of peace, and make up for the lag in the pace of reforms,’ Poroshenko stressed.
