President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that it is extremely important to discuss a de-escalation of the conflict in Donbas in the course of the talks, which are to take place at an Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) summit.

‘Under request of the European side, there was a phone-in session over extremely important meeting in Milan tomorrow, where the leaders of the European states and the European Union together with me, the President of Ukraine, will carry the talks with the leadership of the Russian Federation concerning extremely important issues: establishment of peace in Ukraine, ensuring of the peace process, development of the political process, de-escalation of the situation on the east of the country,’ the president said during an introduction of new Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak in Kyiv on Oct. 15.

According to him, the whole world pins its hopes on the forthcoming Milan summit on Oct. 16-17.
