Ukraine's Trade Representative Valeriy Piatnytsky has said he expects Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's visit to Minsk on Aug. 26 to help resolve some problems related to the implementation of Ukraine's Association Agreement with the European Union.

“This is a very important visit by the president, which may dot the i’s and cross the t’s so that there are no further questions about any problems with the implementation of the association agreement with the European Union in the sphere of trade, so that our trading partners have no concerns that this agreement is directed against anyone. This agreement is directed for the development of normal relations,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Aug. 21.

Piatnytsky also expressed hope that he would manage to hold consultations in Minsk with his Russian colleagues regarding the implementation of the Association Agreement and to discuss the opportunities opening to all parties.

As reported, on Aug. 26, Minsk will host a meeting of the heads of the states of the Eurasian troika (Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan) with Poroshenko, which will also be attended by representatives of the European Commission. The meeting will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
